The Art of Healing
WHO AM I
“My name is Angela Stillwell and my journey has been a wondrous one. I started my career as an Art Teacher in public schools. It was here that I first experienced the healing powers of Art as I witnessed my students have cathartic moments of healing through creating their art.
I also found that students were naturally drawn to my art room during challenging times seeking comfort. My curiosity and desire to help others more led me to begin my journey in the direction of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor in the state of Arkansas.
COMBINING TWO PASSIONS
Throughout my career in the psychology/counseling field I explored and practiced combining the Arts and Psychology together and found how successful this combination was in treating my patients.
I also found how by increasing creativity in our lives brings more of a sense of self-discovery and wholeness to an individual. By combining my two passions in life, I have found an avenue to well-being.
WHAT NOW
Through the last 20 years of my practicing in the psychology field. I have come to realize how the spiritual/faith based area of life is very important to a holistic healing process. Therefore, In order to provide a holistic healing process I have incorporated the spiritual/faith based aspects into my practice. I now have developed three different programs that a person can include all three or pick from which ones they want to address in their treatment process.
Our Programs
The Arts-( Expressive Arts Therapy along withThe Muse program) For those that want to incorporate the Arts in their treatment.
The Science-(Traditional and Non-traditional Therapy program) For those that want to stick to traditional Talk Therapy that works with the consciousness and behavioral aspects, and/or use non-traditional therapy that are based on neuroscience and work with the sub-conscious, such as Hypnotherapy, EMDR therapy, and RTT therapy.
The Spiritual-(Spiritual/Faith-Based Therapy with Purple Munay). For those want to include and address the spiritual/faith based aspect of healing.
Angela Stillwell, LPC-S
Through the Expressive Arts, one can find a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and connection to others.
The act of creating can be therapeutic, offering a way to process emotions, relieve stress, and promote mental well-being.
Creation is a powerful tool for personal growth, self-discovery, and contributing to the richness of human experience.
We can find autonomy and a real sense of freedom to be ourselves and find true happiness.
We Believe
Embracing the Wonders of Science
Science is the foundation of our modern world, unlocking the mysteries of nature and pushing the boundaries of human knowledge. From medical breakthroughs to psychological advancements, science has revolutionized our understanding of the human body and mind. Through evidence-based research, we have discovered how certain chemical reactions and neurological processes influence our well-being.
The Therapeutic Effects of Art
On the other hand, art has long been recognized as a powerful means of self-expression and healing. Whether it’s painting, music, dance, or writing, engaging in artistic activities taps into our deepest emotions and facilitates communication on a profound level. The act of creating art has been shown to reduce stress, enhance mood, and promote a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
The Spiritualistic/Faith based importance
We all have different spiritual or faith based belief systems but it doesn’t mean that we should leave out or deny the healing power that these belief systems can bring each of us. Our individual belief systems should be brought in as part of our individual treatment plan to bring a holistic healing experience. We should incorporate that power of healing regardless of which belief system we lean on. This way we unlock a world of possibilities for healing and personal growth. Our innovative approach combines evidence-based scientific techniques with the creative power of art, and the foundation of our spiritual/faith based belief system allowing individuals to access their inner strengths and facilitate their own healing journey.
